Scheduling 2 auditions per day at unified

I understand that it is possible to schedule 2 auditions a day at unifieds, in order to save time and money. I actually have to do this because of the number of schools I'm applying to and the amount of money my parents are willing to spend for travel expenses. I was wondering how this is done. For example, If i want to schedule university of Hartford in the morning and Ithaca in the afternoon, do I have an option on the application or do I tell them over the phone.
Also, won't the auditions overlap? Would they tell me how long each audition will take? I know that Ithaca says that its audition takes 4 hours.
Also, What IF the auditions do overlap? Or what if I'm late to one audition because the previous one took too long?

I can't speak about MT, as my S applied for acting. However, if you call the schools, they should be able to tell you how long to reserve for their auditions. Sometimes that info is posted on their website or on the web page for signing up. I think that, in general, one audition in the morning and one audition in the afternoon will work just fine. It seems that is what many posters last year ended up doing.

About "overlapping" auditions. . .for my S the schools seemed to be accomodating if someone had to run out for an audition and then come back. You may not be able to leave a dance audition, but getting in and out of line for the monologues or songs might not be a problem. I think the schools are used to scheduling problems at the Unifieds.

When we were scheduling Unified auditions, for each one we were able to request dates and times. Some of these requests were by phone, some were via email. We scheduled all auditions as early in the process as was possible to help insure we could get the audition dates and times that would work for our schedule. All the schools were very accommodating with our requests. We also found out from each school how much would be allotted for the audition. Some schools had this information as part of their audition information on their websites, some of the schools we had to specifically ask via email and always received the answer.

Good luck

You can absolutely do 2 a day...I know people who did more than that. Last year Ithaca did theirs offsite, not as part of Unifieds. It was a good bit of sitting around but I don't think we were there for 4 hours.

Son scheduled his, more than two even but I don't know how many. You can also get other auditions in there if you have time which S did. He went to a site that was not as busy as some. If you pick NYC or other location that is traditionally very busy, you won't have as many options.

Two years ago, my D was able to schedule 3 auditions per day for each of the 2 days that she was in NY. Scheduling early was the key, allowing her to arrange the appointments with a bit of breathing time in between. The schools were accommodating, and it seemed like doing several in a row helped her to stay warmed up, with less time to get anxious. That might not be the case for everyone, but it worked well for her. Check with the schools for the amount of time to allow - some of the audition slots were quite short. Good Luck!
