Scheduling Advice

Hey CCers. We recently completed scheduling forms for next school year at my school. I will be a junior next year. Here is what I filled out:
0 Hour- World History
AP Calc AB
AP Chem
H. Physics
H. English 11
Latin 2
Band

I am anticipating a scheduling conflict. So I am in a bit of a predicament. I hate band but my parents want me to stay with it. So how important is 4 years of music? Additionally, a unique opportunity is presenting itself next year at my school. They will be offering a sort of computer lab language course in which I could take Mandarin or possibly Hindi. This interests me more. Lastly, I might consider testing out of World History...and adding another AP Test. Here is another potential schedule:
0 hr- College Writing
AP Calc AB
AP Chem
H. Physics
Latin 2
Mandarin (lab)
AP Economics

what is your future plan of study or major in college? and if so, do things that revolve around it, or always go for the most challenging.

I am not entirely sure on a course of study in college, probably some sort of liberal arts major like History, Classics, or a language. Maybe area studies…ultimately I want to go to get a PhD in my course of study or go to Med School. I have NO desire to become a pro musician so that’s another reason to drop Band…
I want to take basically the most challenging course load possibly, as I have for the last 2 years. At my school, College Writing is usually only allowed for seniors but they are letting in Juniors who have like 3.8+ GPA and top 95 Percentile on PLAN English. I qualify for both. But idk if I should take it cuz I have heard that it is ALOT of work.

If you hate band, don’t plan on pursuing it, and have other classes you could tkae that you’re interested in, DROP IT. And if your parents get shirty with you about it, tell them the class filled up already. Oh, and take college writing - it’ll help you with writing in college. ;)

thanks for the advice! hopefully they will listen haha
