Scheduling Conflict... APs

I received an email today from one of the teachers who schedules classes and he told me I might not able to take AP English Lit this year because I have so many tough courses. I will be taking AP Bio, Chem, BC, Honors Spanish 4, psychology, and 2 other half credit courses.

Basically should I drop AP English (i wouldn't have to read 2 more books and write 4 papers) and possibly pick up another AP or honors course? I took AP Eng Language last year and made a 3 and B+ in the class. If I take regular English and drop AP will my schedule look less rigorous? Oh and I'm a senior.

Advice please!

Chill! English doesn't seem to be your thing, and adcoms want to see you have a passion, not a microchip embedded in your brain! Focus on classes that interest you so that you can push yourself in those classes in not stretch yourself over English. You can also have your GC attach a note on your transcript explaining that there was a limit to how many difficult classes you could take (that was the problem, correct?).

well the problem is that AP Eng has 2 classes and they meet the same period that either BC, Bio, Chem meet. Regular English is a joke and there's no honors, but i wouldn't have to write 4 papers for the class if i took regular :). I might try to pick up another AP though.

I'm finding out the details tomorrow, but what do you guys feel about 2 science APs -- Bio and Chem?? I'm really just looking for some quick advice.

Well, English is a very important subject when compared to some of your other classes. Could you provide more details as to what classes you could drop to still have AP english, etc. I find that AP english literature will be useful for you for the rest of your life and college career. You really don't want to experience an English class in college for literature.

i mean i would still take regular english literature lol. i find out all the details tomorrow when i meet the person who schedules everyones classes.

But, the idea is that by taking AP english literature, you will exempt yourself from one literature class sometime in college. Of course, you have to do well on the AP exam.

Take AP English Lit and drop one of the science classes. You probably won't want to take english classes in college, which AP english will help you out with. If you want to be a science major, then it's better to sacrifice a science AP class and focus on getting credit for the non-science classes, and then save the science for college.

Oh, you're fine, this isn't that big of a scheduling problem (unless you really WANT to take AP english Lit).

ok here are the details...

take spanish 4 honors and regular world literature

or

take regular spanish 4 and AP English Lit.

so I would still be taking AP Chem, Bio, BC and then psych, world religions, prayer. i think if i drop one of the sciences though i won't have enough credits for senior year. minimum is 6.5 and i have 6.5 right now.

so what do you guys think now?

edit: I'm leaning towards just taking regular spanish 4...

^yeah do the second option because writing and reading skills will be much more important than learning Spanish 4 at an honors level...

I second what meadow said.

alright thanks guys. that's what i'm going to do.
