Scheduling question

Does Williams run on semesters or quarters (trimesters)? And how many credits are you allowed to take without having to pay extra; also, how many is average?

They run on semesters with a Winter Study period in between the Fall and Spring semesters. Students take 4 courses per semester and one "fun" course during Winter Study.

yougotjohn,
Tuition is tuition for the two semesters. They don't figure it on a per course basis. If you want to audit a course in addition to your 4, there is no extra cost. For Winter Study, there will possibly be an extra charge, especially in courses requiring travel or extra materials.

I know you didn't ask, but just in case you were wondering, AP scores can, in some instances, place you out of some entry level courses, but they will not qualify you for any credits. You still have to take the full course load, just like everyone else.

If you want more information, you can get it in the College Bulletin on the Williams web site: http://www.williams.edu/admin/registrar/catalog/

yougotjohn, most kids take four courses per semester as the work load is very demanding. You may however take five with special approval which is not uncommon. You may take the fifth course pass/fail or graded.
