Scheduling Short End of the Stick

Hey all,

So as most of you probably I’m figuring out my Spring registration, and I have what seems either a curse or a blessing - late set classes. My classes start at 10:30 and go till 5:40 pm every day. Some days I obviously have breaks between, and other days I start as late as 1:35 pm. For the lazing, easy-going college student this seems great because you get to sleep in! That’s not me.

I am currently waking up at 5:30 am every morning to get to the gym at 6:30 and then I either have class or work at 8 and my classes generally end at 3:00 pm except for a pesky lab. This will be a huge scheduling shift for me and I fear it won’t really work. There is nothing I can do to change this, as I have spent a lot of time looking for ways to tweak this over to the AM side, but alas, it is not working for the Spring.

What would you do to be most productive in this situation? I can see myself working every morning till 10:30 at work-study and then class and then study late. My concern is being tired at these afternoon classes.

My daughter, also a morning person, had a complete flip flop from one term to the next of morning to afternoon classes. There was no choice in the matter, it was when the classes she needed and still had room for her were offered. She does not prefer being in class all afternoon and she does get sleepy. She manages it by continuing to get up early as she always had and studying/doing her assignments in the morning before her classes start at noon. It is what it is, and it will change again next term.
