Scheduling: two tests, same day

Here's the deal: I'm taking Bio and Physics C. It seems pretty stupid (considering many science dweebs, like me, take two science APs at the same time) but both are scheduled on the SAME day. my schedule on that day is Bio in the morning, followed by the Mechanics test and then the E&M test. basically its 6 hours of testing in an 8 hour period.

Does anybody know if we can opt to take one of those tests on a different day? I don't mind taking both Physics tests on the same day, but could I move Biology to a makeup test date or something?

I don't think so. The only way you would be allowed to take late testing is if you missed the original date due to a valid reason, or if two exams you plan on taking are in the same time-spot.

abhim, I'm doing exactly the same thing (Bio and Phys C)
but I got one of my phys c exams moved to the late date
you are allowed to move a test to the late date if you have 3 AP exams on the same day (thats what the AP Coordinator at my school told me)
but I think its too late to move exams now because I think all the tests have already been ordered by the schools so it looks like you will have to do all 3 on the same day

dammit i wish i knew that sooner!

i think i'm just gonna cancel bio...

eternity, you are lucky. The Phys C tests are actually 1 test. The only way you can get a later date for free is if you have tests that overlap in the same time slot. If an EC interferes, you have to pay $40/$60 for late tests.

actually, one of my friends last year had two AP tests on one day, and he just moved one of them to a later date... I think they encourage/require that if this situation occurs

You're wrong

Late Testing

Occasionally extreme circumstances may make it necessary for students to take an alternate form of a particular exam during the late-testing period. Only students affected by these circumstances may test late; everyone else must take the exam at the set time on the regularly scheduled date. Check with your AP Coordinator about your eligibility for late testing if you are unable to take an AP Exam on its regularly scheduled date and time. For example, if you wish to take exams that are scheduled for the same time slot, you should ask your AP Coordinator to contact AP Services for information about taking one of the exams during the late-testing period.

Note: If you test late, your grades may be delayed up to a month (August release), and your free-response booklets will not be available.

If taking two exams in one day is an "extreme circumstance," they wouldn't even schedule more than one exam per day.

So, am I still wrong?

Call them up there at Collegeboard and ask about it. Six hours of straight testing is stressful for most people.

most schools have a "conflict" period after the first two tests to deal with conflicts

moving to a later date- nope, not just done

extreme circumstances mean, breaking a leg, coma, death in family, etc

conflicts of times are handled on the same day, my Ds school, and many others in the city do that

have three slots for testing, with conflicts done the same day

if the tests are on the same ay but at different times, whining about being tired is not an "extreme circumstance"

take that darn tests

i dont know about you, but i think 8 hours straight of testing is a LITTLE bit extreme, dontcha think? especially if one needs a 5 on all three tests

anyway, i've been looking over my course requirements and it doesn't look like biology will help get me credit. so long, bio

I guess it just depends on the Coordinator. Our coordinator goes by CB rules STRICTLY - maybe yours doesn't (CB can't exactly enforce the rules for all the test takers).

Does anyone know what the late testing dates are? My fa in law (sons grandfather) is very ill and in the hospital and is 2000 mi away. If he doesn't make it and we have to attend a funeral, when are the late testing dates?

I'm doing 8 hours straight too. :) (International Student, taking as many APs as possible for college credit here) Still shouldn't be that bad. I'm used to long exams, and really, the AP's aren't really stressful, what with the multiple choice and all. Filling in little circles, that's not an exam. :D

Plus Bio should be a breeze. (Our syllabus is way, way more than the College Board's)

im taking ap chem and ap psych on the same day
yay for 6 hours of testing..not lol

Yeah, not looking forward to English Language and Art History being on the same day.

Why don't they do Lit and Lang instead? Do people really take both of these at once?

They do. The Collegeboard's scheduling isn't exactly the best, but there's nothing we can do about it.

I just took Eng and French Lits today, each about 3.5 hours including the short breaks, with about 45 minutes in between. That is to say, 5 full essays and plenty of MC. It was exhausting, and my hand was about to fall off by the end, but I got through it. So will all of you. Good luck.

I can imagine. I used to hardly get through my normal English class' finals.

Next Wednesday is going to suck major. There is a fair number of kids at my school taking both English Language and Art History. Art History is a huge class, too, so we may even have to go off-campus to accommodate everyone. I have no idea how that will work out.

I'm taking micro and macro on the same day yay for me too!
I don't mind the long testing, but I do mind the fact that we only <15 minutes for lunch break apparently. I hope the coordinators don't stress the start at 12 rule, because AP are ALWAYS late, and we'll definitely go over...
