Scholarship and Capstone question

Hi all! My daughter has been accepted and told she will get a scholarship. We are really hoping to get in state tuition and she is right on the bubble. ACT 29, SAT 1350, BUT top 5% of her class and GPA 3.89 UW/4.89 based on SC weighting (from what I can figure out). So she’s not the greatest test taker. My question is, are these scholarships based primarily on test scores alone, or do they look at GPA, class rank, and the whole picture like they do for admissions? Also, she didn’t get in to honors, but does she have a decent shot for Capstone? Thanks so much in advance!

I can only weigh in based on my own daughter’s stats last year–her ACT was a little higher and her GPA a little lower, than your daughter’s and she did not get in-state tuition, but the scholarship just under that level. For the merit aid, I believe it’s based more on GPA and test scores vs. the whole application but I could be mistaken. She did get in Capstone and has loved that program and dorm. I would think your D would be competitive for that although it seems like every year the stats just keep going up–good luck to her!

Thanks so much, fingers crossed!!

So CapStone invites have not gone out yet?

Just got capstone email

@doglover2001 what did the capstone email offer? DS just received “you have received a USC scholarship” email, but he is out tonight so we wont know what it includes until he gets home later.

Email was both Capstone invite and scholarship info. Was one level lower than hoping for on scholarship but still pretty happy

My son just got the Capstone invite today. We live in GA and they offered full in-state tuition plus additional $500. Total 4 year - $84,700. I know nothing about the program but can’t wait to check it out.

We did too. He is camping so I logged into his portal. Don’t know much about the program.

Son got Capstone invite today as well! We are in-state, so only $2000 per year on top of the SC state scholarship. He did not apply to Honors, 4.6 W, 28 ACT. I’d like to know more about the benefits if anyone has been through it before and can speak on it beyond what is on the website!

I was invited into the capstone program today and I tried to select one of the available tours. It said “acess denied”. Did anyone else experience this problem? Does anyone know how to fix that?
