Scholarship at Lowell v. Amherst

Does anyone know what the odds are of acceptance w/scholarship in Engineering at Amherst for someone who was awarded the Chancellors Commonwealth Scholarship in Engineering at Lowell?

thx!

I think it depends on the stats. My S was admitted to Lowell with a scholarship and admittance to Commonweath college. I consider him lucky to have been admitted into engineering at Amherst at all (no scholarship, no com college) He had high SAT scores but a mediocre GPA.

(He’s doing very well at Amherst and is enjoying his freshman year).

thanks martina–that was helpful and what I was thinking. My son is in a similar boat, so we shall just have to wait and see… thanks!

Marie, my S received the dean’s scholarship at Lowell, so you S may get some kind of scholarship at Amherst, but unless he’s at the very top of the applicant pool, I think a full ride would be unlikely.

Got my answer! DS just accepted to UMass Amherst Honors College with a Dean’s (2k) scholarship.

:)
