Scholarship Competition Ideas

i'm thinking of participating in a few competitions, specifically the Siemens, Google Global Science Fair, and Intel Science Talent Search. since all three competitions require a research project, i'm aiming on devoting my time into making one good project and using it for all three competitions. i would like to do my research/project in computer science, and somehow connected to either math or physics or both. could someone help with me with some ideas? what kind of subjects or ideas would be preferred by the competition?
thanks.

You need a mentor, preferably from a university, if you want a shot to win those competitions.

assuming i’m able to find a mentor, is there any type of projects that are preferred? like a computer program? or some kind of new mechanical hardware? or electronic hardware?

I did Intel last year and did pretty well, but you should definitely get a mentor. I’m not sure if there are preferred ideas, but if you bat around some ideas about what you are interested in with your mentor, you should be able to come up with something interesting. I’m personally a fan of engineering and “innovation” (I know this sounds general I just don’t want to give away too much info online) so that’s primarily what I focused on.

collegegoal: 99% of the time, you will not be working on your own project. There are not many mentors out there who are willing to give you unconditional use of their lab to do any experiments you want. Most likely, they will assign you a project. That’s not to say that you can’t inject your own ideas into it.
