i went to mica for the national portfolio day and got to meet a representative from parsons. i asked her how they select scholarship applicants and she said every applicants can be considered for scholarship and that with fafsa and all, you can get merit-based scholarship. she also told me that 85% of the applicants receive financial aid. so how much is the maximum they give? eek, i don't want to sound selfish, but my parents won't be able to support me for parsons unless they only need to pay like 50% of tuition. tell me everything you know about financial aid!

Do you need to live on campus.

I Got accepted last year from Parsons so if you are not sure how to get in send me your porfolio and ask questions becasue I could probably help.

Also with the scholarship/financal aid question I got 30,000 is dollard with fasa and stuff, also I applyed for not staying on campus, so we had to come up with 10,000

In the end I didn't want to go to Parsons.
Judt for a side note I did get waitlsted at RISD and after all the call backs there waws only one person infront of me but unfortunately I didn't get in.

Send me your portfolio and I probably can tell if you have a chance is Parsons your frist choice?

I applied as an international student in 2007. I applied for financial aid only after I got accepted (around March). I didn't even realize international students could apply for aid.

I got 5k/year.

I did hear however though that if you apply for aid earlier, there's more chances for you to get more money.

If you are junior and parents make less than 60K try questbridge.
This is the first year as partner and said Parsons took 2 kids in.

Hi, i just read your message about Parsons and was wondering if I could take a look at one or two things that u submitted in your portfolio…Please

My email is m-fashion@live.com

I’m planning to transfer to Parsons this fall, and also I got accepted. I’ve submitted my FAFSA already and it says I may be eligible for Pell grants- $5,550 and Direct Stafford Loan- $5,500. My parents income is below $30,000 because most of their money are in Asia. I was wondering how much money I can get from Financial aid/Student Loans/scholarship(my grades aren’t that good).

Thanks btw how do I post my own topic, I’ve been trying to figure out

Don’t know anything about Parsons, but at the top of the list where the threads are listed (right after you click Visual Arts and Film Majors) , click the button that says “Post New Thread”. Make sure you give it a title.

Hello, my name is Valerie and this winter i was accepted into Parsons for undergrad for the fall 2012 semester. This is absolutely my dream school and first choice and after completing the summer program in 2011 my heart is absolutely set on going here. The problem is that tuition including room/board is close to 60k and my family just cannot afford it! Parsons has given me about 9k in scholarships and FAFSA gave me about 5.5k per year in loans…however this is not enough! My father does not want to take out a Plus Loan because he wishes any loans to be on my name not his…Does anyone know what I can do to get extra aid? Has anyone had experience in financing the Parsons education? What kind of private loans are out there that people have used? Where did you get your funds? Any response is helpful, if anyone would like you can even email me at valeria.segal***********. Please and thank you!!!

Dear Valerie,
Time and again we see this question from students. I am sorry to say that it will be near to impossible for you to come up with that much extra money for you to be able to attend Parsons. Even if you could find someone else besides your parents to co-sign a loan you should NOT take more debt beyond the Stafford loans. The maximum amount of the Stafford loans (about 25k in total) is more than enough debt for a young person to take on after graduation…that is why there is a LIMIT to it.
I do hope you have some other options that are more affordable at this point. That, or keep talking to your parents or some other relatives and see if they are willing to take on the difference in the cost.
