haha i know i wish more people would post

Keri - Did you receive anything about the honors program with your merit info?

48 k over 4 years, or 12 k a year

nope mine has no mention of the honors program.

but their website says that people in the honors program generally have a 3.75 and 1300.

I got $14,000/yr over 4 years= $56,000. I was excited. A few days later I got an invite to the honors program. I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do yet. I'm still waiting on a few other schools, so...we'll see. I got a 1370 SAT, and have a 4.8 GPA.

Since you guys seem to know, what are the benefits to the honors program? Like, whats the housing like and stuff...

honors program has the option of living in honors houses i went and they looked really nice theyre all on the website. and i think they have honors suites too? but im not positive maybe it was an honors floor. they also get free tickets to all shows that come to philly and free transportation to them and museum/exhibit passes. they also have a house, called clavers i think it was, where you could take some of your honors classes that are team taught by 2 professors and you could also do independent study there. it was kind of cozy.

My twin brother and I both applied and I got 56k and he got 80k. Congrats to everyone on their acceptance and scholarship

Kman-congrats to you too. Have you and your brother decided if you're going yet? I visited the campus again yesterday, and I really loved it. I think I'm gonna end up at St. Joe's, but I'm hesitant to say definitely b/c I have so many more schools I'm waiting to hear from. Its such an awesome school, with awesome people.

browneyedbeauty - my daughter was accepted to St. Joseph's U but we have not visited the campus yet. It would be something we'd need to do if she decides to attend. But like most, she's still waiting on a couple more responses from other schools. My question (since you've visited SJU) is what other college would you compare it to? My D is also interested in Bucknell, Holy Cross, UVA, W&M, among some other state schools and safety schools. Would SJU compare to any of the 5 above? Also, concerning the surrounding area of SJU, is it a suburb of Philly or right in the middle of the city?

Thanks,
G

Hey Browneyedbeauty
No we have not decided. I was accepted to Brandeis and they gave me more money. So between St. Joes and there it would make more sense to attend Brandeis. My top choice is Williams though not likely. My bro's is Hamiliton followed by University of Rochester, but St. Joe's isn't out of the running by any means.

Hey greyhound- I love St. Joe's campus. It has the beautiful architecture (like some of the schools you mentioned) and is in a great location. Even though the campus is all in the same place, half of the campus is technically considered part of Philly (you would never know it), while the other half is in the Main Line (a rich suburb of Philly). Center city is only a short train ride away, but the school itself is like a suburban campus. On the tour I went on the guide said you get all the advantages of a suburban school and a city school. I felt very safe when I visited, but like most schools I'm sure you have to be vilagent at night.

I recently visited St. Joe's for a second time and I loved it just as much. It was an impromtu visit, and I didn't schedule a tour. But it ended up working out. There were a bunch of SJU students in the admissions office and I asked them a ton of questions. They answered all of them and put my mind at ease. They were all very sweet and I know I definitely would be happy at the school, should I choose to go. Right now, I'm actually trying to organize an overnight visit with one of the girls (who was actually a counselor at a camp I went to this summer). Personally, I think that spending the night at school is the best wasy to see if its right for you (which is why intend to do it...lol). I can't wait.

I'm also waiting on some schools before I make my final decison (Villanova, The College of NJ, Delaware, Lehigh, Lafayette & Fordham). But I honestly think that I'll be at St. Joe's next fall, unless something major changes. It's a great school and personally a great fit for me.

-Lauren

Lauren,

Thank you so much for your thoughts. We've visited so many schools and St. Joe's is the very last that we'll see. It's not that it is at the bottom of our list, We took a tour of UVA and William and Mary this week. Both were very impressive, but may prove difficult for entry for my daughter since we're out of state. However, if she's accepted to either one, I think she'll be VA bound.

Thanks again,
G

I got 2 scholarships, together, I get 16,000/4 years

My D got 2 scholarships totaling 62K.

Rats! Ithought we were doing well with $7.5K/year.
