Scholarship Question (PLEASE HELP)

Just got my ACT scores back and sent them to LSU. I got a 33 on the ACT, which would make me eligible for their out of state flagship scholar award if I have a 3.0 GPA ($20,500 per year!)

I’ve had my mind set to this scholarship for months, and it’s the only reason I’ve studied for the ACT.

Anyways, here’s the catch:

My unweighted GPA is a 2.7. My school does not calculate weighted GPAs, but I calculated it on my own and I would have a 3.02 GPA IF it were weighted.

Well, I called the LSU Scholarship hotline, and the automatic message said that for scholarships, they will determine eligibility based on your WEIGHTED 6 semester GPA (call 225-578-3103, press 2 after first message, then press 2 again).

So I talked to an operator and asked if they would calculate the weighted GPA for me, since my school does not list it on my transcript. Well, the operator asked me to hold, then came back and said that for scholarships they only consider Unweighted GPAs (which is an obvious contradiction). Tbh, the lady seemed to hate her job and didn’t seem to care.

Anyways, so here are my 2 questions:

  1. If I have a 3.0 WEIGHTED, but not unweighted, GPA, and a 33 ACT, I would receive the scholarship, correct? Or did they place false information onto their phone hotline?
  2. If my school does not calculate weighted GPA, will LSU calculate it?

Without the scholarship I will sadly not be able to attend my dream school :frowning:
Thanks for reading and geaux tigers!

Hmmm…I may be wrong but I think that LSU will re-calculate your GPA, excluding things like Art, Music, P.E. etc. I know they do that to calculate your GPA for Louisiana’s “TOPS” scholarship program. I would call again or email someone there. Here are two email addresses: financialaid@lsu.edu or scholarships@lsu.edu. Also, have one of your parents join the LSU Parents Facebook Page–it is very active and I bet a parent on that page could answer that question.
