I applied Early Action to Tulane with an ACT score of 31, a 3.91 GPA (weighted), good ec's, recs and received only 17k in November. I retook the ACT again Dec 2008, and scored a 33, and including my 7th semester, my GPA is now a 4.0 (weighted). Should I call and see if I can receive the 20k or 24k scholarship? Do they even relook at applications and up scholarships?

Also, I applied for the Dean's Honor Scholarship. What were you guys' scores and such, whoever applied for it?

I definately think you should call admissions and inquire. I do remember last year or the year before there were several students who got a larger scholarship when they submitted their higher test scores.

I think they will reconsider their offer for sure. I believe they automatically re-evaluate your stuff if you send in new scores, but you should ask your counselor to resend your transcript as well. Also, I applied for the DHS with a 35 ACT, 4.16 weighted GPA, and I guess pretty solid ec's.

You reported your weighted GPA. Unless your unweighted cummulative GPA is around 3.75, the 2 point increase on your ACT will probably land you the $20k. If your cummulative GPA jumped higher, then maybe you have a chance for $24k.

i had a 33 on the ACT and only a 3.6 weighted GPA when i applied and i got 24k. my GPA went up later, but i got the 24k before the increase, so i think your GPA is totally fine where it is.

I think it could also be totally subjective, and based upon what the district admissions counselor feels is appropriate. I sent an email to both my admissions counselor and the vice president of enrollment, who's name was signed at the bottom of the acceptance/scholarship letter. Lavacreature, what was your project for the DHS? I heard last year they only gave 50 out, and am hoping they go back to their usual 100.

I made a play and illustrated and voiced it and stuff. It was pretty good I guess but it didn't really have anything to do with the box. I'm not sure if they actually care or not, but even if my project wasn't the best I felt pretty solid about the rest of my app. I never heard that they ever gave out less than 100. That's just the number I've always heard. I don't want to get my hopes up too much but man I want it.

My recollection is that they offered 100 DHS scholarships from over 10,000 applications. Of the 100 offered, they had 40 DHS freshmen this year. There was some confusion because the DHS scholarship letter said that it was offered to the top 50 students (I can go read the exact verbiage if you really want it), but when asked further, the admissions officers did clarify that 100 were offered to the current freshmen.

I thought the application said April, but I'm not certain, therefore I would like to know too. Anyone know when Community Service Scholarship decisions are sent?

This year (for the current freshmen) the DHS scholarships were recieved on Presidents day (mid Feb) and the Commuity service scholarships March 26-27.

Yes, deadline was Jan. 15. (see application form link above and this admissions blog)Tulane University Admission Blog - Jeff With all due respect, it is imperative to stay on top of these deadlines if one is interested in applying. From my experience, both school-based and private scholarships are pretty rigid about their deadlines. You snooze, you lose, as they say.
