I was just looking at the gpa requirements to keep/renew merit awards and it looks like the minimums have gone up. I don’t know if my kid will get anything, but I’m concerned that a 3.5 or 3.25 might be difficult to maintain in engineering or pharmacy. Anyone else think that’s a high bar?

That is a high bar. However, if your child is awarded one, he/she has what it takes to maintain that GPA. My son has completed 5 semesters as a Presidential Scholar ( SAS) maintaining a 4.0. Just think - grad schools and employers are going to want a high GPA to be competitive. Rutgers setting the bar high to maintain the award will be incentive.
What is your son’s major @veggylover I’d like to think my kid can handle it, but life happens.
@mom2cats - He has a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science, with a minor in Physics. He is also meeting the requirements of the honors programs for both majors plus the honors college… and he has already taken two graduate classes, so definitely a challenging load.
I understand about life happening as we have had some surprises with our DS2018. I will be thrilled if he gets even the smallest RU scholarship.
