Hello, are the GPA's for the past year's scholarship awards weighted or unweighted? I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before! Thanks in advance!

Go to admissions page and click on money matters at bottom. Looks like most specify that listed GPAs are weighted. If you have specific questions I would call. SC has standard grading for SC high schools which weight AP/IB over a 5.0. Since I know different schools other places do it differently I would ask how (or if) they recalculate for purposes of scholarships. Also important from the publication:

“The average SAT and ACT scores, as well as the average high school GPA, for fall 2012 award winners are listed for each scholarship. Please be aware that members of each class compete among themselves for these awards. Actual award criteria are established
annually based on the size and the strength of the applicant pool and the availability of scholarships.”

In other words, there is no guarantee that these same scores will get you a scholarship next year.

I’m not certain, but it has been my observation with these scholarships, SAT/ACT scores trump GPA. In other words, they filter first on test scores, and then make sure your GPA fits in the correct range. Perhaps someone has more definitive knowledge.

Good question. I just plugged in numbers through the net price calculator that collegeboard links for USC and it gave the answer regarding a merit scholarship. It asks for gpa and sat/act so its probably using data from last year but should give you an idea.
