Scholarship

hello everyone,

I am applying to Boston University soon and should be accepted without a problem.

I want to go to BU over a local much less expensive school, but BU is ridiculously expensive. How do I get merit based scholarships from them? Will i be considered for this automatically? do i need to call their admissions after i get in and negotiate a deal?

[Scholarships & Merit Awards | Boston University Admissions](Scholarships & Financial Aid | Admissions)

That should have the information you’re looking for.

I think to be eligible for merit scholarships, you had to apply by the 12/1 deadline. You will want to double check that though. I was trying to find the place on their website that had that information, but it seems they have changed their website recently and now I can’t find it.

I believe that the Dec 1 deadline applies only to some of the full-tuition scholarships, including the Trustee Scholarship, Dr MLK Jr Scholarship and Alex Graham Bell Scholarship.

You would still be eligible for other merit-based awards such as those listed on [Other Scholarships | Boston University Admissions](http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/costs-aid-scholarships/scholarships/merit/).
You’ll probably have to look at each of those individual scholarships to see if you need any other supporting materials (such as essays) or if you’ll be considered automatically when admitted.
