Are you allowed to bring scholarships to the academy? I know it is "free" but there is a uniform fee during plebe summer. also if you can take a scholarship to the academy, can it be placed into your mid account or anything so that you can mid charge from it or what? how does that work?

From what I've heard, there's no way to get extra money in your paycheck unless you have a cash scholarship in your normal bank account to withdraw from when you want.

However, the scholarship money can be given to the academy, and then the amount the scholarship was worth is given as a check when you graduate.

Information on scholarship money will be in your permit to report package that you will receive along with many many forms to fill out and other info in THE THICK PACKET that you will hear about on here soon when class of 2012 starts getting them in the mail.

The Naval Academy does accept scholarships for midshipmen if the scholarship stipulates that it can be used to cover expenses other than tuition. USNA will liquidate the scholarship and deposit the funds in the midshipman's account.
