Hey I was wondering if UCSB puts our outside scholarships into barc for us. I'm assuming they would since there's no where else the money would go to but does anyone know for sure? I haven't seen a scholarship transaction on barc as one of my scholarship says it'll be mailing the check to UCSB on Aug. 15th and its been notified by UCSB in the disbursement information/will be confirmed once its received. I still owe $3xx so I'm a bit worried. Does anyone know approximately how long until they'll put it into barc? Its been 9 business days and I understand they're busy but they're usually quick to update for us. Also, there's a green check on my 'Pay fees' tab, but I still owe money. Is there something wrong there? Much thanks!

You should just email/contact them and let them know whats up, or vice versa. Its different, but I recently took out some loans that have yet to be credited to BARC. I emailed them last night and within 12 hours they emailed me back saying they are planning to credit the loan to my BARC this week.

It might be that they made a mistake, or its just taking longer to be credited to BARC.

Lawcha, who did you email? The loan I took out hasn’t been credited yet, either.

My son’s outside scholarship showed up on BARC about 2-3 weeks after it was sent in.

for my barc accoutn, i got charged 3,770 dollars-ish. does that mean im gonna pay 11310 dollars for my first year at sb?

You’re going to pay a little less than that because of there are some one time fees - orientation, RHA activation, housing contract. It will still be around 10k, though.

Does anyone know when BARC account refunds are issued? How does the timing compare to have direct deposit vs. mailed check?

Refunds (both direct deposit and mailed check) should be made about 10 days before the start of class. Mailed check is delivered to the local mailing address (instead of permanent address), so make sure that the local mailing address is able to accept mails when the check is issued. This is important if you are residing in dorms this year since you won’t be able to activate your PO box until the move-in date.

Thanks for the quick reply and tips! I went ahead and enrolled in the eRefund through BARC because I don’t want to deal with the hassle of missing checks in the mail.

Call them- they most likely won’t email you back! I emailed twice and got no response but called and waited on hold for five minutes then had my problem solved.

Well, I enrolled in the eRefund through BARC the other day. Then today, when I logged into BARC, it shows a zero balance. So I clicked on the tab “Refund Information” and it says

Payment Method: Check
Status: Sent to APEX
Refund Mailing Address Preference: Local Mailing

Why is it mailing the check when I enrolled into the eRefund program? Any ideas?

Samething with me scootergal…what the hell

From this [page](http://www.barc.ucsb.edu/refunds.htm):

Q: How long does Gaucho Direct Deposit take to set up?

A: It takes roughly 2 weeks from the time your application is received at the BARC office to become active.

Once the direct deposit is set up. the account summary page should have the refund type listed as direct deposit underneath the refund information line.

Processed and shipped to Apex! Nice

Unknown Person: Thanks for the info.

I owe a whole lot of money through my BARC account. So for my scholarships to come through to my BARC account, do I have to be signed up for classes (6 units)?

Its 12 units if scholarship is from UCSB and the number of units for outside agency scholarships depend on their terms of conditions.

@tjdabeast: Since I have already registered (and I did so about 3 days ago), how long will it take for the staff to credit my scholarships? Will it be before September 15, the due date?

I wouldn’t imagine them doing it so quickly but you should call them to be sure/ask if they can work on yours. If not, defer it for a little longer by fee
