Any easy scholarships for a beginner? Or need based aid I could sign up for? I already have the pell grant and the Fed Loans, I do not wish to take out anymore.

I forgot to mention I currently have a 3.0 GPA and I am in a Community College.

I have not heard of any easy scholarships. Is the cost of your classes more than the Pell grant and Fed loans you receive?

No they are not but eventually I would like to transfer over to an in-state school.

How about your state?

I plan on going to NC State in NC.

Thank you but I do know about the grants, I have the pell grant at my community college, after I transfer, which would be after this year. I will have 4 years left. I would sign up for the others but they told me I needed to max out my pell grant, is that true? I was actually wondering if I transferred could I get the North Carolina Educational Lottery Grant if I max out my pell grant? And I probably would considering the tuition fees and costs is much higher.

Yes you can get it if after the Pell Grant you still have unmet need. So apply. You can use the grant money instead of loans.

What if I didn’t Max out my pell grant could I still apply?

The Pell Grants amount is depending on your EFC and if you’re full time or not.

Thanks.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘max out pell grant’. What I am thinking you mean is that the Pell Grant is first applied to your Costs of Attendance. If there is still ‘need’ after your family pays its required contribution, then you can apply for additional grants. If the Pell covers all your need then no, you can’t get more.

So if your Pell grant is 3,000 and your family is supposed to pay 2,500, and the school Costs 10,000 you still have 4,500 in need that is unmet, yes you can apply for scholarship. But if the school Cost only 5,500, then you have no need, and you can’t get more aid.

Okay thanks.
