I have rarely ever seen a kid eat 3 meals a day in dining halls.
If you have some easy foods in your dorm and dorm fridge, you can have things like yogurt and bagels and cream cheese in dorm for breakfast then eat big lunch around 11am and then dinner at 5 or 6.
Some dining halls don’t mind if you take an apple or orange, etc, to snack on later.
@Sybylla Either me or my roommates will have a fridge- I don’t think there’s going to be room for each of us to have our own, but I will definitely check on that.
@austinmshauri I will be able to find a job off-campus-- I’ve applied to multiple on and off-campus already and know if nothing else, I can walk dogs or work as a barista. I’m going to school in Seattle.
@mom2collegekids I know about the RA position likelihood, but am still (naively??) hopeful that I will be able to afford this. I ran the numbers again last night. Is it realistic to assume some of my money from working during the school year can go towards room & board payments? I’m not sure what else to do to make it more affordable, so any ideas are appreciated.
Thank you all for helping me think through this-- I’ve talked with my parents about it, but it’s nice to have a third opinion.
