Scholarships effect admission chance?

If you apply for financial aid, when you are capable of paying full tuition and there is nothing really wrong with the family or anything like that, will that effect chances of getting into the colleges? I mean extra money would be great, but I know other people need it more than I do, and colleges will see that. Will the college think that I'm being selfish trying to get money when they have hundreds of other well qualified applicants for scholarships when I don't really need it? Will they not like me because of that fact?
Basically, do I have a better chance of getting in applying for scholarships or not applying for scholarships? Or does it not even matter?
Sorry I'm paranoid ugh. If somebody can help me out that would be so great.
