scholarships for sophmore-seniors

Hi..my daughter missed the out of state tuition waiver by 30 points on her sats. If she does decide to go to Clemson is there a chance she can qualify for scholarships as a rising sophmore. I had a hard time finding anything on the website

During my son’s three years at Clemson, he has been awarded various merit scholarships beyond the OOS tuition waiver. Some are on-going based on GPA and others are granted by semester (e.g. last semester a new $3500 scholarship appeared.) There are A LOT of them (provided by generous alums) and they are often awarded based on specific criteria, e.g. area of study, year at Clemson, etc. (See the link below) FYI, Clemson does a real good job of organzing thank yous to the donors with thank you notes from scholarship recipients and donor/recipient receptions. It’s a good thing!
I would also mention that there are opportunities on campus to participate in programs that offer additional funds, such as Chapman Leadership Scholars. These types of programs will require effort/time outside of the classroom, but if your daughter is looking for money, it is out there if she wants to work for it. :)

probably but I wouldn’t assume it if you have to make a decision about where to go to school.

Obviously, nothing can be assumed; however, I have learned after 3 children in college that there is a lot of scholarship money out there, but you have to do some work for it. The reality is that a relatively small percentage of students actually apply to many scholarhships/programs in and outside of their schools because of the effort involved.

silly question - what is OOS waiver? My ACT scores are well above required for Clemson enrollment; I’m down to making a decision between the final two school, Clemson being one of them. The other U has offered scholarship $ but I’ve not heard from Clemson regarding eligibility for scholarships.

There are a certain number of OOS waivers available which gives out of state students in-state tuition rates. The minimum requirement is usually a 1370 on the SAT(CR+Math or ACT 31) and a ranking in the top 10% of your high school class.
