Does anyone know about any "outside" scholarships that are for student athletes? Like I know that the Coca Cola scholarship is heavily weighted towards community service. Are there scholarships like that but more weighted towards athletics?

SAMMY one time $7500 award, Wendy’s HS Heisman- both are grueling applications be warned!

Thanks. However, I forgot to mention that I am homeschooled so the SAMMY scholarship is not possible. I don’t really know anything about the Wendy’s HS Heisman scholarship though.

where do you play sports then- the city rec team?

I play for my local high school varsity , but I also play at a much higher level. I play “club” soccer at like pretty much the highest level you can as a highschooler.

You will need community service for all the type of national scholarships I mentioned & you are looking at. Perhaps a local gym or organization will have a scholar-athlete award. Otherwise just try for an athletic scholarship - if you are a girl wanting to play Div3 or less it may be a good possibility.

Alright thanks. Yea i’ve already gotten those small awards( for example my high school soccer team has a small scholarship for the best student etc…). I’ve been offered plenty of scholarships from good soccer schools (i.e N.C state, George Mason, Davidson), but I want to go to an excellent academic school such as Harvard which offers no scholarships, so I was wondering if there were larger scholarships out there that I could apply for.

By the way division 3 schools and division 2 schools can’t offer athletic scholarships, if thats what you thought. They can only offer academic scholarships.

Davidson IS an excellent academic school–probably better for academics than it is for soccer:)

Division II schools can offer athletic scholarships. Just not D-IIIs.

Sorry…I probably misspoke about Div 2 schools. I actually dont know much about them, since Im not really considering going to any at the moment.

Also, mattmom, I understand that Davidson is a great school, but it’s at the level where I probably can get a academic scholarship (e.g USC, Davidson, Tulane, Case Western). While im still considering going to those schools, I would love to go to Wharton, Harvard, or Stanford (I’m not good enough to get a substantial amount of soccer money from stanford), who do not offer academic scholarships.
