Scholarships/Full Ride

I was wondering how likley it is to get a full ride/ a lot of money to go to Claremont and what their policies are on merit-based aid, considering i probably won't get much need-based. I can post my stats if someone requests them, but i was just wondering if its possible or not..?

I believe the only merit based scholarship CMC offers is the John E Allen Award; it's only $5,000 per year and offered to only about 30 freshmen. They are very generous with their need-based scholarships, though.

New parent to the post. Thank you to everyone that contributes. Very helpful

CMC offers a few different merit scholarships:
The McKenna Achievement Award is $10,000/year for four years.
The Seaver Leadership Award is full tuition for four years.
ISS (Interdisciplinary Science Scholarship) is full tuition for four years for students double/dual majoring in a science and a non-science.
You have to apply by December 1st to qualify for the scholarships.

CMCstudent206 about covered it. I think about 20 people a year get the McKenna and 4 get the Seaver. If you’re not eligible for financial aid, the best bet for “a lot of money” is the Seaver, especially if you’re not interested in science. If you’re interested in doing a science/nonscience dual or one of their interdisciplinary majors and you have good stats, you can try for the ISS, but they try to target that to students from lower income backgrounds. (Financial need is listed as a criteria considered in the decision process.) McKenna certainly helps, but it’s only about 15-20% of the cost. However, if you have some need-based aid, it’s usually not as helpful since it pretty much just replaces your need-based aid.

If you want to get a scholarship, get your application in as early as possible and show as much interest as you can in the school. Dec 1st is the deadline, but in my experience the earlier you can get your application in, the better chance you have of serious consideration.

The Seaver Scholarship is actually awarded to more than 4 people each year. Not too sure why the website gives that number. I personally know of 8 people who got the Seaver Award last year - I wouldn’t be surprised if 12+ were offered it.

Does anyone know anything about the interdisciplinary science scholarship? How sure do you have to be about your intended major?

Also, what is the profile of the recipients of the various CMC scholarships?

For the ISS scholarship, you just have to state that you are interested in dual or double majoring in a science and a non-science. You can switch it as time goes on, as long as you end up graduating with a dual or double major in one science and one non-science field.
