I know this can be a college-specific question, but: if my scholarship goes up, will my need-based grants go down? I have been offered a $15K scholarship to U of Arizona (National Merit SemiFinalist) but that will go up to $30K when they officially offer me the NM Finalist scholarship. My need-based aid is currently $10,249 in grants. Will the grant-aid go down if my scholarship goes up?

It is very likely that it will. What is the COA and your family EFC?

C.O.A.: ~$38,000 out-of-state
E.F.C.: ~$4,300

It is likely your need based aid will be reduced, because your need will be reduced. If the school costs $38,000 and your EFC is 4300, your need is 33,700. If you get a scholarship of $30,000 your need will be reduced to 3,700. Your need based grant aid will not stay at $10,249 when your need has dropped to $3,700.
