is jefferson the only scholarship that UVA offers directly? if not, what are the others? please include a brief description or maybe a website b/c i couldn't find anything on any scholarship other than jefferson.

UVA does not give any merit scholarships. A small number of "diversity" scholarships are given out each year at the discretion of the admissions committee, but I'm not sure of the criteria used in their selection. The Jefferson Scholarships are given out by the Jefferson Scholars Foundation, which, I believe, is a subsidiary of (or at least affiliated with) the UVA Alumni Association.

Cavalier302, UVa does actually have merit based scholarships - see my thread (UVa offers merit based scholarships) on this forum.

Also, a friend of mine in engineering told me that the E-School has their own set of merit based scholarships.

virginiaalum, one of the scholarships you posted is only available for african-americans and the others are for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year UVA students. By saying that UVA doesn't offer merit scholarships, I meant that UVA does not have a program like those at the University of Chicago, Rice, Duke, Emory, etc that give out offers of varying amounts with the initial acceptance letter.
