I’m going to community college right now and my family is a middle class family, and today I got an email from cal grant saying that I need to pick up my cal grant or it will be withdrawn. The thing is I never even knew that I had been awarded a cal grant and I still payed for my classes out of pocket. The school did tell me in the beginning of the year that my family makes above average for the California governor waiver so I thought I didn’t receive any financial aid. But when I checked my cal grant account it said that I was awarded $5000, which I never even knew about. Has anyone been rewarded cal grant and didn’t know about it till they talked to their financial aid off or have any stories like this? I’m just in disbelief that I have $5000 waiting to paid for classes and I didn’t even know about it, hopefully my cc doesn’t tell me that I’m not eligible even though it says that I have been granted it.
Go, to your college’s financial aid office. they are the only one’s who can answer your question. IF you have 5k, get your 5k to pay for school
