School Files

Hi! I have two questions about some of the school files.

My counselor sent in my school report and transcript about a month ago, but I just recently submitted my CA and supplement to Duke on January 1st. According to the online tracking service, they haven’t received my school report/counselor rec or high school transcript. Is this just delayed processing (i.e. they have to combine the hard copy files with my electronic app)? Or should I be concerned about the school files never reaching Duke?

My school doesn’t finish its first semester until MLK weekend. Thus, I don’t have a mid-year report ready yet. I was just wondering what would happen if the adcoms evaluated my app before my mid-year report is sent. Would it influence the admissions decision at all?

My guess is all of your concerns will be resolved with time. University offices are essentially closed for the long Holiday vacation, tens-of-thoussands of candidates submit applications (and supporting documentation) in late-December, when Duke reopens (today) there is a large backlog to be file-integrated, and I suspect your Regional Admissions Officer is aware of your secondary school’s first semester termination date. What will happen is your complete dossier probably will not be provided to the Admissions Reader until late January, but that will have no positive or adverse influence on the acceptance decision.

In addition, I learned this weekend (thanks to another CC participant) that Duke extended its RD deadline until 5 January. Therefore, you’re application materials are certain not to be the last received.

Sounds good. Thanks for the reply!
