I would LOVE to go into the PE field particularly. I am looking at some choices for next year.

Probably will end up at Dartmouth (native american thing)
May apply to some crapshoots like Wharton, Yale, etc but hypothetically say I am at Dartmouth with a major in Econ and a minor in a foreign language or something similar..

Do i have a chance for a PE job? OR a solid IB job? Wouldn't mind working for a boutique bank/firm at all..

I am a minority student so do you think the college will help me find IB minority scholarship/internship programs?

Dartmouth is very good with recruiting on Wall Street. Normally, to get into PE, most people start out in IB and then switch after getting an MBA (most common route but it is possible to get PE jobs out of undergrad). I know that even for Wharton UG, PE jobs are very scarce as well.

what if, from a money issue, i had to attend a school like Tulane? I know there is little opportunity there for IB but anybody have any information?

Well, I would just like to say that you should probably take Dartmouth with some debt in that case. It is nearly impossible to break into IB from Tulane so PE would be even harder (even at boutiques).

You can see that only about 6.5% of undergrads go into PE or VC so you would have to break into IB first (these are just generalizations, though).

I would really aim for a target and Dartmouth is definitely one of them!

The college will not help you find jobs, that's up to you. They may guide you towards programs for minorities. And while employers want diversity, first and foremost they want top notch employees. You'll need a great GPA and need to be a top candidate to get a job.

You may have an easier time finding an internship through a program but you won't get or keep a job unless you're good.

im going to try my best for sure...PE sounds very, very interesting to me so im hoping that works out. I do understand, however, that I will have to go through the IB-MBA process first which i'm sure will be quite a process..
