Nontraditional PE Career Paths

Hello all,

I'd like to know your thoughts when it comes to more of the nontraditional career paths regarding the private equity industry. Since I do not attend a target school for investment bank recruiting, I'd like to find other ways into the PE industry.

All information is appreciated!

Thanks,

Your best bet will be to do well so you can get into a top MBA program and transition from there unless you’re a brilliant quant.

Hmmm, my impression of PE is that they don’t really have much use for “brilliant quant” types. Most of the people I know in PE come from banking/consulting type backgrounds.

If you don’t attend a target school for IB recruiting then you should try to go to a target school (read: harvard, wharton, or stanford) and try to get into PE recruiting from there. PE is similar to IB in that they care a lot about your pedigree…
