School IVY league admissions

Hey everyone!

I am currently a grade 10 student in Ridley College, which is a Private school in Ontario, Canada.

My school introduced IB last year to grade 11's and 12's, and I will be going into IB next year.

Just before I ask my questions, take into account that I do not have much time, because school goes from 8am-4pm, then I have mandatory sports until 6, then study hall till 9:00pm. So I do not have much extra time. I also have school on Saturday from 8-3, and I volunteer at a hospital from 12-4 on sunday. Finally, I run a website design company, a forum of my own, and a social networking site that is dedicated to cars, so I also need to put time towards those.

Here is my school's IB book.

I plan on taking:

Economics HL
Chem HL
Bio SL or HL
English Sl or HL
Math SL (But I have done grade 11 math already, just don't need HL math)

In the future, I am 90% sure on going into Finance, specifically, Investment banking/Private Equity/Hedge Funds. I am still 10% thinking about Medicine, keeping my options open.

Here is my informal resume:

My question:

Which one would be better to take for ivy's: HL, Chem or Bio?
Thanks!

The schools I am looking to get into Harvard, Wharton, Yale, Princeton, Richard Ivey, Cornell, NYU Stern, or Columbia.

They don’t care which one you take HL. They expect you to take the most rigorous level of coursework available at your school and to excel at it. Nothing more.

Your chances are first and foremost a function of your grades and test scores. In 10th grade, you probably don’t have enough info to chance yourself. To get a better idea of where you stand, you can look at the Common Data Set for each of these schools (google it) and go to Section C to compare yourself academically to the admitted students. Know that thousands of students with perfect grades and excellent text scores get turned down every year - which is where the ECs come in.

Given your techie and entrepreneurial interests, I’m surprised that Stanford isn’t at the top of your list. A better fit than many of the others on your list. They even have an e-dorm, an entreprenuer’s ‘incubator’ dorm to facilitate new businesses.
