School Newspaper

If anyone has a link to any student newspaper from any good prep school (if they post them online), can you please post it? I really want to compare my school's paper to that of top schools, since I am a part of my school newspaper team.

Andover’s newspaper, The Phillipian: [The Phillipian Online](http://phillipian.net)

Choate’s weekly newspaper

this is great
[Letters to the School](http://thenews.choate.edu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=985:letters-to-the-school&catid=3:opinion&Itemid=2)

Yes, but it’s not as great of a school prank as the past years’. No, in fact, the calibre of senior pranks has exponentially decreased since the past. It’s a shame.

@goothebear

haha, what were the past pranks?

I do not think this years Choate prank was that funny, but rather the response in the newspaper. That is what made it hilarious. I go to a public high school this year (until I start bs next year) and some of the seniors are crazy. I think they took turf from the field, and put it all over the school. And there was a massive food fight that turned into something crazy.

Yes, I came from an all-boys Canadian prep school (which is socially very different from Choate) and it had some serious pranks. However, Choate—and I think many other New England prep schools—has had some major increase in disciplinary action and security since the 2000’s and although the senior pranks this year weren’t great, I can understand that balloons were all they could do. I think the coolest one is one from before my time. In the library there are portraits of faculty members hung up on the walls. They all look serious in them. So the seniors had a photoshoot and replaced each picture with a photo of themselves resembling the faculty member. For example, one female teacher was wearing a pearl necklace and had a huge smile, so some senior fashioned a pearl necklace from paper and had this ridiculous smile on. It was so immaculate that nobody noticed that they were changed until they really looked at it. The photos are so legendary that the Choate archives kept them haha. And another one is they took the headmaster’s boat and put it in the basement of the science building.

Wow…the the newspapers you guys make are so professional.
At my school we publish like 4 times a year and its way out of league with these ones

Yes, I am part of the staff in my school newspaper, and it is very strict and competitive. All the writers fight (not physically or anything but you get the idea) for front page articles and the editors can be cold sometimes. It’s all part of the business haha

The kids I know who work on the Phillipian spend a scary amount of time on it but it’s really a labor of love. They are so committed to it. I’m sure it’s the same at many of these other places that have excellent weekly papers.

scorll.deerfield.edu That’s Deerfield Academy.
