School of Nursing

<p>Hello all, I was wondering if any of you folks are applying for the nursing school... Or if you have already and got in (or didn't), mind sharing words of wisdom? I'm seeing a lot of LSA/Ross/Engi applicants, so I thought it'd be nice to make one!</p>

<p>As for me, I am actually transferring to UofM... My secondary transcript was JUST dated in WA yesterday, so now I'm nervous for my life.. People are starting to get their decisions from RA so I feel pretty behind :(</p>

<p>Here are my stats, though!</p>

<p>Female, Asian, Filipino
I'm ASSUMING... in state.</p>

<p>High School:
-HS GPA: 3.0 first two years of HS, then 2.043 after that (I transferred schools... and I know, I know... I had major depression at the last two years)
-ACT: 23
-Global Improvement Society Treasurer
-Loads of clinicals in HS, due to a special Health Sciences program. Loads at UofM.
-Health Occupations Students of America regional champ for PSA
-Health Occupations Students of America State Finalist
-UofM Breakfast volunteer
-AAPS H1N1 volunteer
-I was a tutor for KUMON Learning Center for 1 year</p>

<p>Washtenaw Community College (very close to UofM, they even have joint programs)
-College GPA: 3.81, 54 credits for only 2 years (12 PENDING)
-Nearly all A's, one B
-Phi Theta Kappa member (honors society)
-Phi Theta Kappa Secretary (honors society)
-Deans High Honor Roll (never had below 3.8 in all of my 4 semesters)
-University of Michigan volunteer (7w cancer mott and Adult ER)
-Always a full time student
-I work 20 hours per week at a senior living community.
-I also have my Certified Nursing Assistant.
-Waitress for 1 year
-Waitress again for a nursing home for 5 months now</p>

<p>I have three letter of recs, one from high school (health sciences teacher), one from my Microbiology college class, and one from my adviser of Phi Theta Kappa.</p>

<p>Essays are really good, did NOT mention depression on the 4 essays, but wrote a letter on the "Additional Information" on CA</p>

<p>Also, I talked to the transferring counselor from UofM... She says that she would be surprised if I didn't get in... And not to worry too much on HS, since I spiked in improvement.... But still! </p>

<p>Ahh, well, this is all I can say for now.
It be great to meet some transferring students aiming for the nursing school!</p>

<p>I’m also hoping to transfer into the UMich nursing school! Your stats look great!! (Compared to mine anyway… :X ) I have a really low GPA 3.35 at the moment and don’t have many EC’s either related to hospital or clinical work :\ I really want to go to their nursing school though…</p>
