What would colleges (mainly the top 25) think about this (like in terms of ranking and the hardness of the school)? Do they realize it is hard and competitive, or not?

Medical Magnet School

30/180 (top 20%)

97.001 GPA

If your school really is that hard, most top 25 schools will be more than familiar with it. I go to a non-magnet public school (but one of the best in the state), and every admissions officer I've met with knows it by name and is more than familiar with its reputation. We had exactly the same problem with rank and, following most private schools, dropped it from the transcripts.

I doubt we will drop it since we're a public school (magnet, albeit), and we go to 4 decimal places (I only put 3 on the post).

Damn that's a high GPA, mine only goes up to like 4.4 :(

Hah just foolin with you. Most colleges know of the big high schools.

It is a small high school though, I mean the top 10 (for they publish where they go) always get into the Ivies or Plan II (honors program for UT). Our top 10 is like top ten percent because of our grade's population. Generally, a class has 200, but people move out because it is too hard (or they have to move), and we are restocked with the waitlisted kids that applied (you have to apply to get into the school).

The director for your region will know your high school.

Basically schools like yours are screwed. For gosh sakes it is a southern school. Ivies only really pay attention to like the eastern schools. No one ever really cares if you go to a magnet school in the south. A lot of the ivies have strong connections with top private schools in the northeast.
