I recently went to try to get my school to sign the Cal Grant GPA verification form, but they refused to on the basis that they might have already sent it because I was accepted to a school EA and did the midyear report so they knew that I was going to college. I'm a bit confused because I never filled out the form that they sent out for the GPA verification and I and my parents never signed anything about it. Our counseling department is notoriously bad, so I wanted to ask whether this is possible/likely that the school would send it out automatically without asking the student or my parents? Thanks for any help.

Some schools automatically send them, some don't. I'd call CalGrant and ask if your application (FAFSA + GPA form) is complete. If not, get your school on the stick.
