School Sponsored Activites

What type of traditions/activities does your school sponsor that are fun? It can be outside of schooltime (Sports tournaments, bonfires, dances, etc.), during school, (which class can collect the most pop cans, etc.) or at halftimes of sporting events (relay races, pop chugs, etc.)

A pageant made of dudes doing some hip hop or some cheesy stuff every year.

Every year the night before the Homecoming game we have a pep rally/bonfire where we take a stuffed animal that looks like the other school's mascot and toss it in the fire.

We also do this thing called PPP (Pursuit of the Power Plunger). It's a thing we do with our rival school. There are seven "events" - canned food drive, boys' basketball, girls' basketball, boys' plunger race, girls' plunger race, teachers' plunger race, and spirit. The canned food drive takes place a few weeks before the event, and the rest takes place during a night where they have boys' and girls' basketball play at the same time. They do the races in between games and at halftime. For the plunger race, you have to have a wheeled vehicle powered by plungers. There's one team from each school for each category (the teams are picked prior to that; they usually race at an assembly and the winners go to PPP). The school that wins at the most events gets their school name put on the PPP trophy with the year they won. They get control of the trophy for a year and the next year, the event is held at their school.

And there's "Mr. ESD" which is a beauty pageant for guys. There are four high schools in the district and each puts on their own pageant. The guys are nominated for the pageant beforehand. They have to do your typical things such as showing off a talent, doing a swimsuit competition, and answering questions. The top three from each school go on to the district-wide one, and from there they pick the top three. One year we swept it. It was cool.

They used to do a lip-sync too but I don't know if they do anymore.
