School suggestions?

Also, look into Brandeis - just outside of Boston.

Brandeis as a safety?

Tetrisfan,

I've noticed that you've had good counsel from the East Coast, and West Coast, and some suggestions about the South. Now, take a good hard look at the middle of the country. I'm talking Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and the rest. Lots of smaller universities, lots of very fine LACs, just about all of which would be happy with your stats and (ahem) your money. Colleges and universities that you have never heard of (and many posters here at cc have never heard of either) but that churn out plenty of non-ax-murder graduates who go on to earn advanced degrees in Fill-In-Field-Of-Study-Here at Fill-In-Famous-Name-University-Here.

Pick a city with a an airport (Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Moline, Illinois; Kansas City, Missouri; etc.) and then run that name through any of the college search engines. You will find lots of options. Some might even still have space for THIS fall!

Wishing you all the best.

Brandeis would more likely be a match. Good advice from happymomof1.

The University of Miami has most of your desired characteristics and might be a good mid-sized match school.

tetrisfan: As far as my knowledge goes India now do have schools providing IB diploma and A-level cerification. ICSE won't cut it for a college like Brown unless you are scoring in the range of 97+. I think if you are rising junior and really want to go to a top US college then move to an IB diploma school.

Ummm ParentOfIvyHope, India doesn't calculate a GPA like the US so you've got your facts wrong...a girl from my school with 91 in ICSE got into Wharton this yearm so...

happymomof1 - that sounds great. I'll do that this weekend or so.

tetrisfan: I'm quite familiar with Indian system and quite sure that 91% in ICSE won't cut. The girl from your school might have someother things going on for her.
So to be on the safe side plan accordingly.

ParentofIvyHope, I don't know anyone with 97% in ICSE! You must be confusing ICSE with CBSE (although I don't know anyone with 97% in CBSE either...) or State Boards.

The girl had so-so extracurriculars and a 2200. I know her personally. I'm just saying that you're underestimating the difficulty and the scores in ICSE.

BTW I got 93, not 91...

Oh yes, how can I forget. A guy from my school got into Brown this year with 89.9% in his ICSE.
