School-to-school Transfer Questions

Hey, I currently finished my first year enrolled in Rutgers Newark, and I am looking to transfer into a Rutgers NB school. I have already completed the necessary 2 semesters and 30 credits necessary for a school-to-school transfer into the Rutgers NB School of Arts and Sciences. Unfortunately my GPA is below the 3.0 mark mentioned in the criteria. I'm assuming that this doesn't bode too well for a potential acceptance into NB SAS. However, when reviewing the requirements for transferring into the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, there is no strict 3.0 requirement. The conditions merely state that, "Students must remain in good academic standing at their current school and satisfactorily complete the current semester."

My questions are as follows: Should I keep my current application for SAS going? Is there any hope for admission? If not, considering the fact that I can only apply to one school at a time, would I be better off withdrawing my application, and applying for admittance into SEBS instead? Is it easier to transfer into SEBS than SAS? While I'd prefer to go to SAS, an admittance into SEBS is preferable to not getting into a school at all. I'll appreciate any responses I can get. Thanks.

I’m actually on the same boat! I just finished freshman year at Rutgers-Camden and am looking to transfer into NB SAS. However, I only have 24 credits but a 3.28 gpa.

I was thinking about SAS vs SEBS too. I asked an academic advisor at RUC about my chances of transferring, and she said that it is actually easier to get into SEBS than SAS, most likely because not many people seem to be interested in their majors. Also, like what you said, they don’t seem to have as many requirements. With your gpa being slightly below 3.0, I’d recommend applying to SEBS instead.

Take note that it also depends on what major you are pursuing. I researched SEBS and it seems to be perfect for most science majors and, oddly enough, journalism (it’s just what I read). I’m not sure if admission for a certain major will be more competitive than another science major. I was taking biology in Camden but want to switch over to English, my original choice. I dropped bio 102 second semester, which I think disqualified me as a potential bio major (specifically) in NB since Rutgers requires you to take 101 and 102 at the same institution/campus (unless I wanted to retake 101 in NB but even then, that has more prereqs). In the end, I concluded that SAS was personally the better choice for me.

Hey, any luck/updates? I got in today if you were wondering about the chance with my stats, applied two weeks ago.
