First semester was a really tough year, I suffered a loss of a loved one and my school introduced a new grading system that just destroyed me. I ended the were with a 3.67 GPA W, and UW of 3.3. This is not my potential, last year I got 3.8 W both semesters.
Everything was fine this semester though. I was doing really well with a 4.0 GPA. Now my school is saying they will only use semester one grades for this year because of the COVID restrictions.
I don’t know what to do. A 3.6 GPA is not what I wanted, and it isn’t how I am academically. I was planning on applying to a lot of CSU and UC universities. My question is what the hell can I do now? Will colleges take into consideration what happened? Can they still look at my grade for this semester, and how low have my chances dropped?
I heard that UC and CSU go off of sophomore and junior year grades. I got 3.8 last year and this year it’s just a 3.6 now, so that’s an average of 3.7. It would’ve been a 3.9 if my school didn’t decide to remove this semester. So how low are my chances? How can I prove to the colleges that the first semester wasn’t really my year?
I’m really, really scared.
