Hi, we are out of state and planning a school visit for admitted student day.Our activities will be hold in Busch campus. Wondering if we stay at Rutgers University Inn, will that be too far?
Also about driving rental in New Jersey, are most roads toll way? Shall we get the toll device from rental?
Hi @helloworld, I would call Rutgers University Inn and see if there will be shuttle service to bush for the event. It is not that far of a drive from the cook/Douglas campus where the Inn is to Bush so staying there is 10 minutes away. If you are flying in to Newark Airport you will only hit 2 tolls one getting onto the nj turnpike and one getting off. You can pay for them in the cash only lane. The lines are not that long so no need for a EZ pass rental with your car. If you have time treat yourself to some ice cream at Thomas Sweet om Easton Ave by the College Ave Main Campus… and a Stromboli at Stuff yer Face.
If you’re staying at the University Inn, there’s an Avis rental car service in the Sears less than a mile from it. They put the EZ Pass unit in the cars regardless and you can just open it if you want to pay a toll or just use a cash lane. Getting to the Visitor Center on Busch is easy via car as there is visitor parking right in front of the building. Rutgers also operates a bus system which is completely free to use and can get you there as well.
There are several ways to get from Newark Airport to the Busch campus without paying any tolls. Frankly, the turnpike puts you out of your way getting to Busch. You can head west on 78 and get off at exit 36 or take 78 to parkway (no toll southbound) to rt 1 to 287 to exit 6 (Washington st).
