Schools for music education in the northeast.

I live in NY. Wondering if anyone can suggest good schools for music education.
THANKS!

SUNY Potsdam (Crane School of Music) is very good for music ed and the tuition is low, particularly since you would be in-state.

Would be a lot more expsensive than a SUNY, but Ithaca has a good program.

Ithaca's music ed job placement rate is 100% (according to the college). D was accepted there for Fall'09 but has more auditions before making a decision.

Crane is the best value. However, NYS budget cuts will greatly affect all SUNYs over the next several years.

If you are willing to include Pittsburgh in your definition of Northeast, put Duquesne on the list. They also boast 100% placement rate for the past few years.

The net is cast a bit wider than the NE, but it gives you a good overview.

There are also a few additional links within the first thread with some prior music ed threads as well.

Consider SUNY Fredonia as an additional option as well as Potsdam/Crane.
Hartt's program is excellent as well.

Hofstra has a very strong reputation for education, generally. It has a beautiful new music building and the emphasis of the music program is music education.
