Hi all. I’ve been lurking for several months, ever since I started looking at going back to school for a music degree. My perfect job would be writing, recording, and performing my own songs. I’d like to find a school where I can study both songwriting and performance, basically a singer/songwriter type of degree. I’ve been playing the piano for 30+ years and singing for about 5 years. I’m weakest in songwriting, having only gotten serious about it this year, so I want it to be a primary area of study, but I don’t want to focus on it exclusively. There should be plenty of performance as well. After researching and digging through the archives here I’ve come up with USC, UC Denver, and Berklee as offering this sort of combination. Are there any other schools I should consider?
@SingingPianist My daughter has a friend that is attending Belmont University in Nashville for songwriting. She is a freshman so has only been there a semester but so far she is very excited about the campus, her studies and the professors.
@saffysmum I forgot to mention I’ve already ruled Belmont out. Based on multiple accounts I’ve read I would not fit in there due to their religious affiliation.
