Great to hear you’re thinking of applying to Westover! It definitely is a great school. I’m going to be a freshman day student there in the fall, and if you have any questions feel free to ask me, and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my abilities:-)

Thanks! I’m also looking at Emma Willard.

Look into St. Mark’s also!!! :)

If you want a school with a good Humanities program, check out Peddie. I didn’t just learn during that double period class: I GREW UP. I cannot say enough about it. We study mythology and lore from Ancient Greek epics to The Canterbury Tales. My teacher would give lectures about how these stories influence us today and all the subtle details in the stories that appear meaningless but actually bring everything together. The class is very discussion based and included conversations about:

-Is Hercules really a hero?
-Did Julius Caesar deserve to die?
-Can Batman from The Dark Knight ever truly be apart of society?
-Why is Moses not allowed into the Promised Land?

This class meets for two periods on the block schedule and is a requirement for all freshmen. It takes the place of an English and a history course. Since you see each other so often, and also have Community Life (basically health and a class to help deal with your new surroundings, taught personally by the deans) you become extra close with your classmates.

Yay! I’m glad I could help you out, Bamagirl.
I’m going to put more and more and more pressure on you! Haha. Just visit the websites of all the schools from the Ten Schools Association, as well as the Eight-School one or whatevr. :)

Peddie…Peddie…Peddie…
Warmest environment you will ever meet.

Not sure if this would interest you, but the Kiski School in Saltzburg, PA could be an option. It’s all boys, so if you’re a girl, than they won’t let you go there unless your parents teach there.

bamaGIRL But thanks for the input!

Hmm… I’m also thinking about applying to United World College. My parents were appalled when I mentioned it… but it really is an amazing oppurtunity. But I still haven’t given up the idea of prep school.

Ah! I wish I could go to high school like five times so I could experience everything.

What schools are you considering as of now?

I’m not even sure. St. Paul’s and probably Deerfield. I’m looking at Tabor again. Emma Willard and Blair. Kent (but mostly because it’s the name of my favorite on SYTYCD :p) Maybe Taft? There’s too many choices!

I know. I am having trouble cutting out a few schools. My list changes like every other day. I am trying to get it down to a solid 10 schools but it is so hard. I keep telling myself if I cut (insert school name) out of my list, I could be cutting out the only school that accepts me or the school that gives me the most FA.
