Hi! I am looking for a school in the new jersey, pennsylvania, deleware or washington DC that is inbtween the levels of American University and Georgetown University. I have a 4.02 but only a 1190 on my SAT (grr I hate them!) so I am looking for a school inbetween the two mentioned above in terms of academic averages. Ive been told that I should get into American as a "good fit" for a school but im looking for something more of a stretch, but not as much as a reach like Georgetown is for me. Like I said 4.02 GPA 1190 on the SAT, big EC's with two jobs averaging 20 hours a week, varsity softball, peer ministry= 6 hours a week, and big on languages, i take spanish, german, italian and arabic. I want to study arabic and middle eastern studies but im looking for a school that will fit me? So, any ideas? Thanks!

You could try U Maryland and George Washington. Check to see if they offer the programs that interest you.

thank you!!!

NJ: Rutgers, The College of New Jersey, Drew, Seton Hall
DE: University of Delaware
PA: Too many... Lehigh?
DC: GW

thanks again!@

You sound perfect for American to me.

To name a few more in PA:

Mulhlenberg
Franklin and Marshall
Bucknell
Villanova
Lafayette

Definitely George Washington!

Another person taking Arabic! I just started this year -- I have a 90 minute commute to get to class, but it's definately worth it.

School-wise, American does seem like it'd be a really good fit for you. GW is probably a bit more of a reach, or you could try something like Allegheny in Pennsylvania (though Meadvill kind of sucks). You really should be picking a school based on the quality of life aspect (ie, whether it fits you) rather than just how your SAT matches up.
