Schools known for best need based aid, other than HPYS

First of all, big congratulations to all "yes". I know the next phase is which "yes" to pick and how to pay for THE "yes".

We have one HS junior now and would greatly appreciate any information about the need based aid. More specifically, I am interested in schools ranked 20 or higher by USnews.

For example, we have told our DS not to apply to certain schools because they used a large amount of loan in the FA package. It is a waste of resource to apply to schools that you know you can not afford.

Dad II, I know you are already familiar with Vanderbilt, but you may not know that they now have a no-loan financial aid package. They have a reputation for generosity in their f.a. packages, but I have no idea where their cut-off is.

Hi, midmo, have not seen you in a while. How have you been?

So Vandy’s new policy starts this year? That is good news, thanks. The past record shows Vandy is very good to students from our HS. However, among the 5 FA packages DD got from private schools last year, Vandy’s EFC was the 2nd highest.

Since we have already one in college, we really need to find a 100% need meet school to split the EFC. Thus, the search starts… …

Here’s a list of schools that claim to meet full calculated need:

And here’s a slightly out of date list of those with various kinds of no-loan programs:
