As stated in the title, I was wondering if anyone has ideas of similar schools to Wake Forest and Richmond? By similar, I mean in terms of academics, acceptance rate, social aspects, and size. I am finishing up my junior year and would like to find some more options to apply to. I am also looking at Villanova, Tulane, William & Mary, and some bigger schools such as U of Wisconsin (Madison).
Bucknell?
Sewanee?
With respect to the selectivity aspect of your question, you could research colleges from this analysis that place similarly to your current schools of interest: https://amp.businessinsider.com/the-610-smartest-colleges-in-america-2015-9.
Have you looked at Washington and Lee?
Vanderbilt is in the same genre but a bit more competitive than Wake.
Elon? Davidson? Washington & Lee? Maybe Lehigh?
Boston College is the college closest in feel to Wake and Richmond IMO, though it’s larger than either school.
Furman doesn’t have the rah-rah D-I athletics and school spirit that Wake does, but it’s worth a look regardless.
When my kid asked about U Richmond, I described it as similar to the University of Tulsa, but with more emphasis on Greek life.
Lafayette College - very similar in school spirit, academics, admission req, campus size, etc.
Also…Colgate, Bucknell, Whitman College & maybe Union College or Hamilton College
(Peer schools to UR include UVA, W & L, Boston College, Villanova, William & Mary - per college website)
Just to clarify…my list above is for colleges similar to University of Richmond. (Not as familiar with WF)
SMU
Gettysburg, F&M, Duke and Vandy, (though more selective), BC, College of the Holy Cross, Colgate, Bucknell, Lehigh, Loyola MD, UNC, UVA, Hobart, St Lawrence.
SMU, TCU, Bucknell, Lafayette, W&L, BC. Duke and Vandy, yes, but significantly harder to be admitted to either, so not a direct comparison.
