I'm looking for some strong pre-med schools where people really have fun and enjoy themselves and have good character. I know there will always be people who are miserable and have bad character but I mean tossing those bad apples aside. I really want a cooperative pre-med environment over an extremely competitive one.

I know you really can't call a school a match or safety but please don't post schools like HYPSM (and JHU) because I'm looking for "safer" schools.

Sorry for those looking for stats...I was going to until I realized this is about where you want to go, not "what are my chances" so just say schools which you think will be good while ignoring the fact I didn't post stats.

Thanks, I really appreciate your input :)

I will congratulate you on looking for schools where you will "fit" that's a good method.

Without at least some idea (particularly location-wise) it's hard to say exactly where you should be looking. Let us know if you are looking for big schools, small schools, a particular major (it can be ANYTHING - med schools don't care what your major was), greek life, big time sports, awesome intramurals or whatever else is important to you.

Personally I liked the variety and opportunities that a large public state school (~18000 undergrad pop.) provided me - along with big time college sports and a well rounded Greek Community - while I was going to school there, but that might not be for you. But there is a school out there that is, so my advice is to go to the place you fall in love with b/c in the end, it doesn't matter for med school.

Well some schools I will be applying to:
Stanford
UVA
(I will be applying to others but the list is changing daily and I don't care too much about size...I just want my fellow peers to be happy and have school pride...I prefer character in a person over intelligence)

However, the above choices are risky and I know there are so many other options besides these schools yet I really want to go somewhere I will have fun. I don't intend on joining a fraternity just because the whole "Hell Week" scares me. If I did join a fraternity it would be one without drinking/drugs/etc. I really am looking for a school with a big sports program because I want to have pep and show it! Cheering with thousands of my peers just seems like a thrilling experience and I want to be a part of it!

Right now my major looks like it may be biomedical engineering or biochemistry (what can I say? I like my sciences :) ) I am very much interested in politics/economics though so I would probably take a couple of those classes just for fun and the experience.

I'm not really looking to play sports myself...maybe just club or intramural tennis because I enjoy the sport. I am kind of big on weightlifting though and fitness so it would be nice if the school offered a good gym, fitness center, etc.

I really want an undergrad school with good admissions counseling and high med school acceptance rates...that would be nice.

Thank you for all your help!
