I would like to know my chances at top schools for BME , and plz remember that I live in Indonesia where there are almost no oppurtunities for research work and things like that.

I would also like to know how to improve my resume, and the minimum SAT scores that i would need

Well, I don't know what you're aiming for, but I don't see to much that sticks out. Ivy's are out of the question I'd say. I don't knwo much about BME, maybe Carnegie Mellon for a reach (like a 39%acceptance rate). Also Lafayette College in PA and for match/safeties...GA and VA tech?? go to Collegeboard.com and go to collegematchmaker and try to compile some schools. Good Luck

The top BME schools are probably JHU, Duke and UCSD. You would not get into those with your current stats. If you can work on the SATs, do that, otherwise look at some mid range schools, but even those ar going to want a math SAT over 700.

While your school size is considered, the lack of any unique EC's or leadership (let that fund raiser stuff shine more through recs) will more than likely hurt your chances at Top colleges such as JHU, Stanford, Rice etc.

Your list is too heavy with reaches at this point with those stats. Those scores will improve your chances slightly, but many other areas of your application will fall behind other applicants.

the "top" American universities are out of reach, but you can find many a good one. why are you wanting to go to university in USA? does indonesia believe America has the best? because it does. i just answered my own question.

thanks for the replies. a few more questions..

how will my lack of EC's, leadership affect me negatively. i mean my school just doesnt have any clubs, no student council, and i live in indonesia. In indonesia there's no such thing as research and stuff like that. It was really difficult to a place to do volunteer work. I think I've made use of all the available oppurtunities...btw i'm an indian living in Indonesia.

The reason i want to study in america is because colleges in america have so many oppurtunities such as research. Since i'm planning on majoring in Biomed Engg, research is very essential...and studying in america is a great experience..

well I'm sure you made the best out of the opportunities in Indoneisa, and you can certainly tell the adcoms on your application, however, you still lack them while thousands of others have them.

Boston University, which you can most liikely get into if your scores rose to what you expect, also has excelelnt and highly competitive biomedical engineering program.

You actually have farely good chances. I dont know if some of you realize this but you are judged based on what you do with your schools/areas resources not exactly what you have. Having the things he has in Indonesia gives him fairly high chances. On a 1-10 scale you are an 8.5.

I know this is a bummer but forget UCSD
on a 1-10 scale, I give you a 2.

You've got a slight chance but it is very slim. Your UC GPA would be about a 3.8. and your SAT scores are not high enough to make up for you low GPA (low by UCSD standards). UCSD has an average of 4.0 GPA and about 1300 for the SAT. With a 3.8 you would need close to a 1500 to make up for it. Unless you can boost that SAt score to 2200+. UCSD is a major reach,

thanks for the info guys..
can u plz tell me if the following universities are reaches or matches..
JHU
RICE
Northwestern
UCSD
Case
U Washington
Stanford
UPenn
U Texas-Austin
GaTech
