I am an international student going to ma senior in an international christian school in indonesia. i will graduate in 2006. The school i attend is really small (total 70 students). Being a small school there arent many oppurtunities. No AP courses, no clubs and only 2 sports teams

Schools I plan on applying-
Johns Hopkins, Duke, UCSD, U Wash, Stanford, U Mich- ann arbour, Georgia tech, Rice, Case, U texas-austin, Tex AM-college station and Northwestern

I would like to know my chances at each, and plz remember that I live in Indonesia where there are almost no oppurtunities for research work and things like that.

I would also like to know how to improve my resume, and the minimum SAT scores that i would need

thanks for the comments guys.
i know my stats arent too impressive, but dont u think that college will consider the fact that i made use of all the oppurtunities i had. Living here in Indonesia and attending a small school does not give a lot of oppurtunities to do things. I've done all the EC's possible and taken the most challenging course offered. I've even taken Pre-cal via correspondance so that i can take AP Calc next year.

PS: by the way, i'm really interested in Case, JH and Northwestern for Biomed engg.

u said that skools were more lenient towards internationals rite? I posted a question about that on the International students forum and got several replies saying that it is much harder for international students.

I'm confused. ok, i'm not looking for financial aid of any sort. I just want to know whether the admissions are more lenient for int'l students like me. I live in a country where the majority of the people dont speak english and i am suffering from a lack of oppurtunities to prove myself.

Specific schools that i am interested in:
Case
JH
UCSD
Duke
Northwestern
U-Mich Ann Arbour
Rice
GA Tech

Case - Gd Chance
JH - Nope (depending wad you wanna study.. much easier for humans and social science)
UCSD - High Chance
Duke - Low Chance
Northwestern Low Chance
Ann Arbor - High Chance
Rice - Mid Chance
GA Tech - not sure though

Sorry taj, but it is harder for internationals, so many apply and most schools limit them to a few percent.

You need to raise your scores. You went to an international school, so english shouldn't be a problem as it would be for many internationals educated in their country's language. Heck, we have Chinese students at my high school who got perfect SSAT english scores having never met a native english speaker!

But your real problem is math when looking at biomed programs at top schools. Duke and JHU especially get very highj math scorers for those programs. You would be wise to look at SAT scores for your major at your schools and go from there.

thanks...what if i got a 800 on SAT Math section and a 770+ on Math II C....also my math grades in school are pretty high and i got the school math champion award...

That would really help. The scores are almost more important than grades because if the colleges don't know your school well, it's the only way they can compare you to the competition. The math part of a biomed program is really tough, they need to know you're on the same level as the others.

I will take AP Calculus AB next...and try hard and hopefully get a 4 or 5...also i took Pre-Cal via correspondance and my grades are pretty high...
any other tips?
thanks for ur advice suze
