schools thatgive a HUGE admissions boost to legacies?penn, rice, washu, dartmouth, etc??

The Chronicle: 3/14/2003: Legacy Admissions Are Defensible, Because the Process Can't Be 'Fair'

Rice gives a huge boost to legacies, right? 25 percent or so?

Also, Penn does too I heard. 30 percent or so?

as well as Wash U and Darmouth. 25 percent or so?

what are other schools that are big on legacies?

is it really true that dartmouth and rice give suchbig preferences to legacies?

it's kind of surprising

I don’t know what those percents are, but if you’re not already a good candidate I can’t see a legacy making much difference (unless it’s like 8 generations). Btw (sorry to steal the thread a bit) I have a brother at Dartmouth right now and he’s doing extremely well. Will this have any effect whatsoever on me?

True. Not sure about the %s, but, these schools and many others (esp Notre Dame) have a tremendous acceptance rate for legacy. Hard for those kids (like mine) who have parents who went to a so-so college: the kids aren’t 1st gen and aren’t legacy.
